About meghan Ely

Meghan Ely of OFD Consulting is the founder of wedding PR membership OFD Collective. After receiving her Bachelors Degree in public relations from James Madison University, Meghan spent a year serving in Americorps before she began her full-time career in the wedding industry, spending several years working in Richmond-area wedding venues.

In 2009, Meghan launched one of the first wedding PR agencies in the US, OFD Consulting. Several years later, she expanded to creating OFD Collective, the first-of-its-kind wedding PR membership that connects members of the media with quality sources. Since then, she has helped her clients earned features with the Associated Press, NY Times, NY Post, The Knot, Brides, Martha Stewart Weddings, Destination I Do, People Magazine and CNN, among many others.

Meghan Ely is also a long-time industry educator, presenting a variety of wedding publicity and trend-related topics at such conferences as Destination Wedding Congress, RSVP Club, Engage, Wedding MBA, NACE Experience and Lend + Gather, among many others. She is a regular contributor to WeddingIQ.com, Special Events Magazine and Catersource.com. More recently, she served as an industry expert with the NY Times as well as Bridal Guide.

Meghan and her team’s wedding PR efforts have been regularly honored by the Public Relations Society of America. In 2024, Eventex named her one of the most influential people in the wedding industry and in 2021, she received NACE’s prestigious Speaker of the Year award.

Meghan has also spent nearly twenty years serving in industry associations. She got her start in 2004 as the first publicity chair for the Richmond Bridal Association and later assisted with the launch of the inaugural Richmond Chapter of the National Association for Caterers and Events. She later moved into the role of Chair for the National NACE Education Committee. For nearly ten years, she served on the National board for the Wedding Industry Professionals Association, then moving into the role of the first Chair for WIPA’s Leadership Development Council.

Currently, she serves on the Allied Council for the National Society of Black Wedding and Event Professionals. She is also an active member of RSVP Club as well as Emerge Event Collective.
